XDL National Championship Round II – Nashville, TN

Thursday, May 28th, kicked off the second round of the XDL National Freestyle Championship Series in none other than Nashville, TN, the music capital of the world! Over 500 fans attended the opening ceremony bike night at Silverado’s Bar and Grill organized by Brian Hill and Poppaclutch. Josh Borne, among a select few XDL competitors, was asked to perform a sample exhibition for the crowd. Still nursing a lower back injury induced from a wreck the day prior, Borne graciously accepted the offer, but rode lightly. The kick-off event energized the crowd and instantly made the XDL Championship Series the most popular and talked about event of the weekend.

On Friday May 29th, the excitement on the Nashville Super Speedway was contagious as Josh Borne and other competitors geared up for a long day of practice at the world class racing facility. Again, Borne rode lightly due to sciatic nerve damage caused from Wednesday’s earlier accident. Practice, though painful, went fairly well for the pro-athlete.

On Saturday, May 30th, Josh Borne, arrived at the Nashville Super Speedway in severe pain. The champion freestyle rider had full paralysis in his right leg and extensive pain in his lower back. In an attempt to prepare for the qualifying round, Borne rode his Honda 600 CBR f4i onto the fairway, but pulled off the track soon afterward. Josh Borne then made the difficult decision to pull out of the second round of the XDL National Freestyle Championship.

“It has been the toughest decision of the season, but out of concern for everyone’s safety, I chose not to ride today. I have ridden through pain before; every freestyle rider has at one time or another, but when my right leg and foot went numb, it affected my ability to fully control the motorcycle. I did not want to endanger my fellow riders or XDL officials. ” – Josh Borne

Josh Borne is currently healing from his injuries and is predicted to make a full recovery. You can see Borne compete for the FMF Cup in the third round of the XDL National Freestyle Championship Series in Los Angeles, CA in early August.
