American HD Fall Open House – Ann Arbor, MI

On Saturday, September 26th, HOG enthusiasts weighed the difference of cruisers versus crouch rockets. Josh Borne demonstrated to Harley loyalists the aggressive maneuvering that makes sportbikes famous during a freestyle exhibition at American Harley-Davidson. Rain threatened all day, but an experienced Josh Borne rode in the blanket of mist as easy as if the sun were shining.

Harley fans showed their passion for all motorcycles when they respectively cheered Josh’s seat standers, Ralph Louis, highchairs and precision stoppies. Detroit Sportbikes came out and showed their support. The sportbike club brought new flavor to the predominantly H.O.G. attended event.

“Freestyle is not limited to a specific brand of motorcycle. The key element is balance. I can safely freestyle a Harley Sportster just as easily as my Honda F4i.” –Josh Borne

The typical sportbike fear factor was in full effect and many Harley fans were skeptical of Josh’s ability prior to the first show. He quickly changed their opinions. Target stoppies inches away from the crowd proved Josh’s complete control of his Honda CBR600. Throughout the afternoon, the audience grew with each action packed event.

The 1st Annual AH-D Mini Bike Mania was a real crowd pleaser. Spectators rooted for their favorite American Harley-Davidson certified tech as the service department went head to head on pit bike 50’s. Beautiful Harley-Davidson models held up lap signs as mini bikes tore up the grassy knoll for 20 laps of fury. Competition was tough and a few riders went down in the third turn. Tom on the “Orange Doppleganger” won the first two races. In a huge upset, Spider on the “Million Dollar Machine,” won the final race and did a victory lap.

A huge sale brought colossal amounts of foot traffic through the show room doors. Customers enjoyed 30% off genuine Harley-Davidson parts, accessories and motorcycle apparel. American’s knowledgeable staff assisted potential owners with “Cash for Your Two Wheeled Clunker.” Patrons received $2,250 towards the purchase of a new or pre-owned 2007 or 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Free inspections, oil change specials and $39.95 winter storage were a few of the many services offered by American Harley.

Greg’s Music Service serenaded the afternoon with the best of rock and roll, blues and jazz, while Cohoctah Cook’n, the barbecue specialists, catered the event. Borne Freestyle Entertainment’s personal photographer, Tom Rossman from Diamond Photo, captured all of the excitement with his state-of-the-art digital camera.

While sportbikes won the popular vote for horsepower, Harley held first place in customer satisfaction and comfort. Whether you are looking for social networking, sightseeing or long distance traveling, there is no better bike than a Harley Chopper. If speed with style is your game, the new Buell is an option. Demo rides on the Harley-D’s 2008 & 2009 1125CR Buell and a 2009 XB12R even had Josh impressed.

“I want a Harley! The Sportster by far would be an amazing freestyle bike. Who knows? Before long, you might see me freestyling my own new 1200!” –Josh Borne

Josh Borne will be teaming up with American H-D again on Wednesday, September 30th for Shark Club’s Bike Night in Howell, Michigan.
