Monster Jam Premier of Freestyle Mania – Mobile, AL

On the weekend of July 24th & 25th, Josh Borne joined up with Aaron Twite and Andy Gaetz to ride in the world premiere of Monster Jam Freestyle Mania. For the first time ever, the largest fleet of Monster Trucks, FMX dirtbikes and quads, Freestyle BMX and Freestyle Streetbikes teamed up for a one-of-a-kind high intensity freestyle exhibition.

As a city that was established in the 1700’s, Mobile, Alabama has a tradition firsts. It is the home of The Van Antwerp Building, the first Skyscraper in the Southeast, and the birthplace of Mardi Gras. So, to keep the tradition alive, it’s no wonder that the two-night freestyle show premiered in the historic city’s Civic Center. Created by Feld Motor Sports and sponsored by Southern Ford Dealers and the U.S. Air Force Reserve, this unique show attracted thousands of extreme sports fans.

The audience was not disappointed with the evening’s activities. The event kicked off with a “pit party” where motorsports fans of all ages waited eagerly to get pictures and autographs of their favorite freestyle athletes. Once the floor was cleared and the lights went off, the show began with colossal Monster Trucks pushing the limits on mountainous piles of dirt.

Following the roar of trucks, for the first time ever, Streetbikes hit the dirt with precision wheelies and acrobatics. FMX added an adrenaline kick with dirt bikes and quads simultaneously hitting the high jump, while BMX bikes preformed tricks below. To add a little heat to the explosive show, BMX bikes jumped over both rider and streetbike on a 6ft ramp for a tremendous finale.

“This show took things to the limit and beyond. There was so much going on that keeping the bikes in sync and away from other freestyle riders was a challenge. In the end, it all worked out and the effect was remarkable!” – Josh Borne
